Tamper-evident provenance records for fossils, from discovery to sale.
Problem
Overheard a family friend complaining about how fossil provenance verification drag deal times and can be a big time waste. Through some web search I figured history is usually a paper trail assembled after the extraction, which may or may not involve a locality written from memory and documentation that is more or less established by trust.
How it was solved
I figured that creating an app that could produce cryptographically secured provenance in 10 minutes would save a lot of time and support new fossil hunters with less trust and establishment within the industry. This app was vibecoded using claude code (harness), superpowers (context gathering), and impeccable (frontend design). It is a PWA that utilizes React with typescript libraries for frontend, and has no backend, instead storing data locally, and requires HTTPS.
Results
Running at datumrecord.com, including a live demonstration of tamper detection: alter a sealed record and the interface shows the broken seal rather than the altered value.
